MAGNA Science Centre

Project type: Interactive science centre

What we did: 3d design

Date: 1998-2000

Client: Event Communications

From the very beginning of this project, Dan was a part of the design team that masterplanned and created the Stirling Prize and Design Week award-winning exhibition pavilions inside this gargantuan, disused steelworks in South Yorkshire, UK.

He developed early concepts for the Earth, Air, Fire and Water Pavilions, and the interactives within each, taking them through Scheme and Detail design and finally to site install.

The old furnace comes to life with fire, smoke and sparks; the Water pavilion has rain and running water; the Fire pavilion has a real fire tornado and the Earth pavilion has working mini-JCBs - all of which Dan was involved with designing and engineering.
