Robot and AI gallery, Kuwait

Project type: Film and gallery soundtracks

What we did: Sound design, music production and on site mix

Date: 2017

Client: Centre Screen productions / Peter Key

As part of this interactive gallery at the Science Museum in the Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Science and Cultural Centre, we created atmospheric sync soundtracks to five film productions which play throughout the space, all detailing the development of robotics and Artificial Intelligence, looking at how they move, communicate, rescue and can be used in human surgery.

As part of a wider suite of films and interactives, all sound and music had to be created to be harmonious across the open-plan gallery, to allow simultaneous playback without key clash.

The centrepiece and introduction to this gallery is an imposing mechanically animated robot called Q8, who moves in sync to the screens around him and narrates the history of robotics. We were commissioned to create an on-site sound mix, ensuring the audio was as immersive and impactful as possible and that his voice was clear and understandable in both English and Arabic.

In the adjacent building, which looks at the human body, we created a sound mix for the Radiating Pulse exhibit, a looping 3d soundscape of sporting activity which plays across 14 speakers down the full length of the gallery.
