We were commissioned by Real Studios to create a subtle audio backdrop to an exhibition all about diamonds in their many forms. Starting with the sound of diamonds seeming to appear from different parts of the gallery walls, the looping piece gradually builds to a rhythmic peak, interweaving poetry and famous sayings about Diamonds with the music.

We worked with renowned actress and voiceover artist Elizabeth Conboy (Wolf Hall, Star Wars, Eastenders and across Channel 4) and singer, composer and voiceover artist Ola Onabulé, to bring the words to life through speech passages and sampled words that were used as part of the rhythm track.

Elbow productions then asked us to create a soundtrack to the ‘journey of a diamond’ film – An imagined exploratory craft that dives into the centre of the earth to see diamonds being formed, before being dramatically exploded out of a volcano and back to ground level.

The sound was mixed on-site with Peter Key, ensuring the existing gallery sound system could be used to its full potential by spreading the audio across the whole gallery space.
